Tristar coach Firas Zahabi disects Score Fighting Sarnia main-event; wants to see rematch

Chris Olech- Moments after the main event bout at the Score Fighting Series that pitted Chris ‘The Polish Hammer’ Horodecki against Brad Cardinal, mmacanada.net caught up with Chris’ coach, world renowned trainer of champions, Firas Zahabi.

Mmacanada.net: How did Chris’ preparations go for this fight?

Firas Zahabi: Chris was really prepared for this fight, I think everywhere. You saw it in the first round, he was just getting warmed up. Cardinal had to take him down, jump guard, he accepted the take-down as Chris was on top. I think he (Cardinal) could not get his guard going. I think that was his biggest strength and he could not get going. So I think in the second and third round you where going to see some more strikes.

I think Chris hurt him in the leg, and it sent a message for Cardinal to want to take it to the ground any which way possible.

Mmacanada.net: What did you think about the head butt?

Firas Zahabi: It happens, I don’t think it was intentional. I think it just happened, something you cannot avoid.

Mmacanada.net: In your eyes, what is next for Chris?

Firas Zahabi: I would like to see a rematch, he needs two months off before he is healed and he can start sparring again. I would love to see a rematch, it was a good fight, it was exciting, close, and competitive but I really feel Chris has what it takes to win that fight and I would like to see them fight again.
There is no doubt that the fans want to see a rematch of the highly contested bout between Chris Horodecki and Brad Cardinal. The Ontario favorite, Horodecki looked sharp before the doctor stoppage due to a cut from an accidental head butt.  Stay tuned on future announcements of a proposed rematch.
