Italy’s Alessio Sakara had appealed to have his UFC 154 disqualification loss to Patrick Cote overturned to a “No contest”. The result, a simple no. La Regie des alcools des courses et des jeaux denied Sakara’s protest for a “no contest”.
Sakara was ripped off Cote when the French fighter seemed to go unconscious with a series of lightning quick strikes delivered to the head by Sakara in the first round.
It looked like the Italian fighter had emerged victorious until the dreaded instant replay showed in slow motion that the strikes landed were indeed illegal as they connected on the back of Cote’s head.
“We have rules in place for a reason” states Cote following the decision.
“I’m not a crazy fighter, I’m a good man” states Sakara following the bout.
