UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida were in Ontario, Canada this past week filming scenes for the upcoming movie “Tapped” which features the two UFC standout’s and local Canadian talent such as Sam Stout, Chris Horodecki and more.
Director Allan Ungar wrote to us: What we’ve tried to do with this film is branch out and cater to both a modern MMA audience as well as the retro audience that grew up watching films like The Karate Kid. We’ve amalgamated these two worlds and placed them in what we believe to be an engaging story that has all the right ingredients.
There is no release date yet, but they had fun filming in Canada and Ungar explains more: We shot this film in Canada, so we wanted to get a combination of Canadian and American talent within the UFC. With Anderson and Lyoto, we really needed to bring in some recognizable faces and guys who could breathe life into these characters. We’re not just putting fighters in the film for the sake of having them. We’re contextualizing them and placing them in an ensemble cast with the likes of Michael Biehn and Martin Kove.
