Woodbridge, Ontario’s Michael Imperato ready for Ryan Brigham at PFC on Dec. 7

Woodbridge, Ontario’s Michael Imperato will jump right into action on Dec. 7, 2012 as he prepares to battle Ryan Brigham (5-4) at Pure Fighting Championship which will be held in Red Deer, Alberta.

Imperato is an example of one of the young and talent Canadian rising stars in MMA.  He trains with some of the best all around coaches in the province and is looking to solidify another win under his belt.

MMACanada.net caught up with Imperato to discuss his next bout.

Q:  Give us your thoughts on your upcoming bout on December 7, 2012.

Imperato:  On December 7th 2012 I will be fighting for PFC ( Pure Fighting Championship) My opponent is Ryan Brigham(5-4).

The event will be held in Red Deer, Alberta. I have never fought out there yet but from what I hear it is a great town filled with great fight fans. I am excited to step in the cage again, especially in front of a big crowd.

I don’t know too much about my opponent, the fight was kind of a last minute thing. From what I have seen he is a stand up fighter. I know he has been fighting professionally for a few years longer than me so I am expecting him to have a lot of experience.

Q) Talk to us about your training and camp here in Toronto and some of your training partners?

Imperato: Since my last fight June 17th 2011 I have been working on a lot of new stuff. As a young fighter sometimes you take skill for granted. Over the past few months I had great training partners and coaches from the Tap Star crew. Sam Zakula, Misha Cirkunov, Wagnney Fabiano, Reza Kamali, Michael Karkula, Robert Santos, and a few more students from team Tap Star Omar, Paul, Matt, Sasha, Jordan, Phil, Jason, if I forgot anyone you know who you are. I’ve based my camp on hard training, pushing myself but being patient. I want to show case all my skills as a more mature fighter (well rounded).

Q) You have a ton of support in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and have trained with some of the best coaches and fighters, can you discuss what your future goals are and where do you see your career going in the next year or so?

Imperato: In the GTA I do have a lot of support and that goes along way. besides everyone who encourages me to do better everyday I do have great coaches and a great group of guys to work with. This next fight is huge for me, it’s been 17 months since I stepped in the cage. I want to come out with the W and continue my work ethic into the new year. I am hoping to have as many fights as possible next year and build more experience inside the cage. My only goal from the start of my career is to make it to the ufc, as my head coach Sam Zakula always said ” there’s no rush, it’s better to be over pre paired then under pre paired” when I get there ill get there but I will definitely will be there.

I would like to thank everyone for their support especially my sponsors for this fight and throughout my career. Tap Star, Freshcuts, Street Solider, Loki Lounge, RedStar bjj, TT Plumbing, Spring box, mb sports and Xtreme Couture for giving me a place to train.  Join me on Saturday, December 8th for my fight after party at Loki lounge in Toronto. located at King and Portland.
