UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre himself issues a rather short and sweet comment as he reacts to outrageous rumors of him requesting a $50 million dollar payout to fight UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
“Rush” informed 985Sports.ca that the speculation was ridiculous, stating: “I have not been informed of this, it is not true. Nobody told me about it and I am in France now, I have not seen the article and I will not comment.”
It all started during the latest episode of The MMA Beat with Mike Straka, who claimed that a close friend to St-Pierre told him that GSP wanted to get paid a significant amount of money, in the sum of $50 million to fight the current 185-pound king, Anderson Silva.
Straka’s exact words were: “I was told by somebody very close to Georges that Georges today makes close to $8 million a fight. So to fight Anderson Silva he’s going to ask for $50 million.”
There is no indication as to whether this may come up in future negotiations, but at the current moment, GSP has shut down those rumors.
