Since returning after a nearly two-year absence from competition and defeating Carlos Condit back at UFC 154 in Montreal, Quebec, the hottest topic in MMA has to be whether GSP would fight Anderson Silva in a long awaited super fight or 170-pound number-one contender, Johny Hendricks.
The past week we have been hearing quotes from St-Pierre’s camps on Hendricks and Silva. MMA Fighting media source just released another quote from Tristar head trainer Firas Zahabi who asked Georges St-Pierre if he wants to fight Anderson Silva, and the champ responded by saying “Yes”.
Official quote right here: “I asked him if he wants to fight Anderson. He told me, ‘Yes,’ but I think there’s a lot to be negotiated, so I don’t know much more than that. If one day they tell me he’s fighting Anderson Silva, I’ll treat him accordingly. If they tell me he’s fighting Nick Diaz, I’ll treat him accordingly. In Canada, I get asked mostly about Diaz, I would say. When I’m in the States, Silva. But back home, it’s just Diaz talk all the time. I don’t know why. I can’t explain it.”
The Spider was in Montreal when St-Pierre defended his welterweight title but did not call GSP out.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming weeks. We will keep you all posted!
