It took Anthony Pettis to text message UFC President Dana White requesting a title shot at Jose Aldo following his decision win this past weekend at UFC 156 where he defeated Frankie Edgar.
White, just days later, agreed to make the fight happen in August of this year.
Pettis has been dominant in his last few outings at 155-pounds, where he last destroyed top caliber opponent Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. He will drop to 145-pounds to take on the wrath of Aldo, who has been dismantling each and every one of his opponents inside the octagon.
USA Today got official word straight from the boss:
Two of the baddest dudes in the fight business are going to fight at 145 pounds. These guys are two of the most amazing, gravity-defying athletes in the sport. I am so pumped for this fight.”
The title fight is expected to take place on August 3, 2013. A location and venue is yet to be named.
