Canadian TJ Grant eye’s title shot with victory over Gray Maynard at UFC 160 this Saturday

Nova Scotia’s TJ Grant has the golden opportunity of a lifetime.  This Saturday night (May 25, 2013) at UFC 160, he will have the chance to earn a number-one contenders spot for the lightweight title with a win over Gray “The Bully” Maynard.

UFC 160 “Velasquez vs. Silva 2” takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This is a big breakthrough for one of the top lightweights in the world and if Grant can secure that title contention spot, he can join the ranks of current and past fellow Canadians (Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Newton) as a UFC champion.

The question is, can Grant impose his will and dominate against an Octagon veteran like Maynard?  Of course!  Grant has shown in his last few outings that he is more than ready for the challenge that lies ahead.

With four straight victories under his belt let us remind you what type of caliber he has disposed of.  The likes of Shane Roller, Carlo Prater, Evan Dunham and most recently Matt Wiman.  Grant finished off the durable Wiman with a flurry of elbows and punches to get his chance to battle Gray Maynard.

Grant told MMACanada.net that he is a patient fighter who never looks passed his opponents.  He goes in there with one goal on his mind and that is to execute his game plan and get the win.

A win on Saturday night will propel the Cole Harbour native’s stock and give him the recognition he deserves.

Are we getting a glimpse into possibly the next Canadian UFC title holder? We will have to wait until the completion of UFC 160 to answer that!
