Canadian lightweight sensation and former UFC vet John Alessio has now signed with Bellator MMA. Alessio announced the news just hours ago via Twitter.
John Alessio: Very excited to say I’m now a @BellatorMMA fighter!! Thank you @BjornRebney for this opportunity. I promise to bring it every time I fight!!
There is no word on opponent as of yet, although Tweets of a possible Alessio vs. War Machine 2 have been circulating.
Alessio had two runs in the UFC against top tier opponents. His last two attempts were in 2012 as he lost close decisions to both Shane Roller and fellow Canadian Mark Bocek.
He then fought Dave Mazany at AFC 13 where the fight ended in a no-contest due to an eye poke. Alessio also fought for one of Canada’s top shows the MFC.
Alessio will start fresh with Bellator in hopes of gaining rank in the 155-pound division.
