Reminder: TUF’s Michael Hill battles Ryan Ford for title at AFC 19 this Friday in Edmonton

Michael “The Messenger” Hill (5-1) and Edmonton’s favourite Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (20-4) will battle for the coveted AFC Welterweight Title this Friday at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. Hill and Ford will be fighting for the 13-pound gold belt in the main event of AFC’s 19th instalment “Undisputed.”

Michael Hill, an alumnus of The Ultimate Fighter 16, is coming back from a split-decision loss to Joel Powell at AFC 18. Powell was set to take on Ford, but had to bow out due to an injury. Moin Mirza, AFC Chairman, says of the match, “when Powell got injured, it made sense to give Michael Hill the spot. He was ready for the fight and willing to step up. His fight with Powell was very close so it made sense that he would be next in line.”

Steve Fader, President of AFC, says of Hill, “we are excited to have him fight for us again after his loss to Powell. He showed massive heart in this fight, and his willingness to compete again so quickly proves why he belongs with Canada’s number one promotion.” Fader adds, “we respect fighters with good attitude that live to compete.”

Ryan Ford is a fan-favourite in Edmonton and is well-known as the best Canadian fighter not in the UFC.

AFC 19: Undisputed will take place at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton on July 5, 2013 at 7pm. Weigh-ins are open to media and will be held at the Sutton Place Hotel (Winterlake Room), July 4th at 6PM.
