The UFC promotion has booked one of the most highly anticipated rematches of all time as women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey squares off against number-one contender Miesha Tate at UFC 168 on December 29, 2013 from Las Vegas.
Tate got her second-chance at Rousey when Cat Zingano sustained an injury that would not allow her to fulfull her coaching gig on the upcoming TUF 18 season. What better way to stir the pot than to have Tate step up to the plate and accept the challenge.
Zingano defeated Tate to earn her shot at Rousey but will instead she will sit on the shelf until 2014. UFC President Dana White stated that upon Zingano’s return to the Octagon, she will be granted an immediate title-shot.
Rousey and Tate locked horns back in March of 2012 that saw Rousey defeat Tate by armbar to capture the Strikeforce gold. Rousey has beaten all of her opponents by arm-bar in the first-round.
