It’s a sad day in Canada as T.J. Grant has been forced to cancel his UFC lightweight title appearance due to a concussion during BJJ.
T.J. Grant tells the story via Twitter: Thanks everyone for your concerns. I am healing from a concussion I suffered in BJJ of all things. I hope to be back training very soon
Anthony Pettis will step in for the injured Grant to take on Benson Henderson at UFC 164 for the lightweight title on August 21, 2013.
This new bout will serve as a rematch to their first encounter back in 2010 when “Showtime” Pettis won by unanimous-decision to win the WEC title after landing the famous “Showtime” kick in the fifth round.
We hope grant a speedy recovery and a possible title contender before 2013 ends.
