Boxing all-time great Floyd “Money” Mayweather pocketed a guaranteed $41.5 million after his win over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez this past weekend, and is already looking to a future with Mixed Martial Arts.
Not only is he the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Floyd also owns Mayweather Promotions that promotes various fighters. He intends on entering the MMA market in the future, here are his comments (via Fight Hype):
“I want to promote MMA fighters also. We are looking to promote MMA fighters, so it’s the first time you’re hearing it … Al Haymon is looking to manage MMA fighters. Even though Al Haymon hasn’t came on record and said it, but I want Al to manage MMA fighters. I think I can take it to the next level.”
UFC is known to be the pinnacle of this sport, and Mayweather adds:
“I don’t mind doing business with Dana White. Dana White’s a cool guy. I’ve been knowing Dana before he got involved with the MMA.”
Time will tell if Mayweather Promotions can co-exist in the same space as the UFC.
