Rory MacDonald told he won’t get next UFC welterweight title shot
December 17, 2014
PrintThe unthinkable just happened. Canadian welterweight Rory MacDonald will not be getting a shot at the UFC 170-pound strap next, according to Ariel Helwani via UFC Tonight.
Helwani stated that MacDonald was informed by the UFC last week that he will not fight Robbie Lawler for the belt next.
Robbie Lawler became the UFC’s 170-pound champ by defeating Johny Hendricks at UFC 181. They are now tied one a piece. One can only suspect that a trilogy fight is in the works.
“It’s all good,” MacDonald told Helwani. “I’m just gonna light up whoever is next. Like always.”
MacDonald is considered to be the next “GSP” in Canada and earn himself the welterweight strap one day and cause a rukus like his fellow Canadian has.
