TUF 20 Finale results: First ever UFC Strawweight champion crowned

PrintThe Ultimate Fighting Championship returned tonight to live TV with the TUF 20 Finale, live from Las Vegas, Nevada.
History was made as Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza submitted Rose “Thug” Namajunas to become the first-ever UFC strawweight champion. It is also noted that Esparza entered the tournament as the #1 seed and Invicta strawweight champion.
Rose right away took the center of the Octagon and pushed the pace. Esparza did a great job though, landing quick take downs and controlling from top position. Esparza submitted Namajunas with a rear-naked-choke in the third-round to get the win.
