UFC 181 Hendricks vs Lawler, Pettis vs. Melendez preview
December 5, 2014
PrintThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC 181) is scheduled for this Saturday (December 6, 2014), from inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
UFC 181 will feature two mega title fights. First, a rematch for the Welterweight Title between current champion Johny Hendricks and challenger Robbie Lawler. The second, a Lightweight Title fight between champion Anthony Pettis and challenger Gilbert Melendez. The rest of the card is stacked from top to bottom.
Hendricks and Lawler first locked horns on March 15. Hendricks ultimately defeated Lawler via unanimous decision. Hendricks became the new 170-pound king as GSP vacated the title earlier on.
Expect fireworks when these two enter the Octagon on Dec. 6!
The lightweight title tilt between Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez is a fans dream matchup. While Pettis is the slight favorite, this should be a close match. The two are at the top of their weight class, in their prime, and very agile and quick. Both like to utilize their fists and feet.
Both fighters are currently featured on The Ultimate Fighter season 20 right now, and the momentum is building. The UFC has given fans not one but two great championship bouts to look forward to this weekend.
