Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor go at it again on Twitter over potential UFC fight

When Conor McGregor declared at the start of 2017 that a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather was the only thing that interested him, it was easy to believe him. That’s a fight that would earn him a hundred million dollar paycheck, five to ten times more than he makes off a UFC fight. But it’s harder to know for sure what’s going through Floyd Mayweather’s mind when he teases an MMA match with McGregor. He’s already sitting on a ridiculous pile of money, and he’d undoubtedly get embarrassed in the Octagon.

Yet Floyd continues to throw out posts on social media that he’s going to follow through on the idea and fight Conor in the UFC.

To which McGregor quickly retorted…

For those saying there’s no way this happens, keep in mind that Mayweather vs. McGregor in boxing made over $600 million dollars, and that was with pay-per-view services around the world melting from demand. Double up on the servers and put Mayweather in a cage where he’s almost guaranteed to take an ass kicking, and this could be the first legit billion dollar fight in combat sports history.

That’s a lot of money to be left on the table, money that Mayweather Productions could potentially take 50% to 60% of. All for a few minutes worth of pain? Sure, Floyd would eat s**t for years after on the internet, but it’s not like he’s ever gotten the respect he feels he deserves from the public anyways. It’s telling that whenever he posts a hundred million dollar check from his past fights, he always says he’s getting the last laugh.
