‘Strong’ Georges St-Pierre in no hurry to make MMA return, deal with UFC bulls—t

Is Georges St-Pierre ever coming back to mixed martial arts (MMA)?

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion, who also held gold at 185 pounds, has competed just once over the last five years, a submission victory over the since-retired Michael Bisping at UFC 217 in New York.

And it came at a hefty price.

Now that St-Pierre has returned to a more reasonable weight, the topic of cage fighting has once again surfaced, fueled in part by rumors that “Rush” is contemplating a drop to 155 pounds in an effort to become the first fighter to ever hold titles in three different weight classes.

But that would require him to return to the circle of bullshit.

“Yeah, the thing is, I’m at the point that when I train, I feel very confident, I feel strong, I feel very great. I feel better than when I was 25,” St-Pierre told the Jim and Sam Show. “But sometimes, I hear a lot of B.S. stuff and I’m like ‘do I really want to go back into that circle? At this point, I think I’m going to take the holidays and think about it, and see what’s going to happen.”

St-Pierre (26-2) turns 38 in May.

Once considered the “king” of UFC pay-per-view (PPV) buys, the French-Canadian phenom has fallen out of favor with promotion president Dana White, who is not afraid to bury his own fighters when it suits his promotional needs.

And White is not interested in another one-and-done title reign.

In addition, St-Pierre is adamant that he’s only coming back to combat sports to compete in bouts that further define his legacy, which rules out tune-up fights or even big-money paydays against marquee fighters like Conor McGregor.

Maybe he’ll fly with “The Eagle” in 2019?
