The Best UFC Lightweight Fighters

The UFC lightweight division is as competitive as it’s ever been. Fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor take most of the headlines, but Tony Ferguson and Eddie Alvarez also know how to put on a show. There’s much debate over the best fighters in the division. For that reason, we want to take a closer look at the candidates.

Most of the Freetips.com Canadian betting websites agree that Khabib is the best in the world right now. However, who is his biggest threat? Keep on reading, and we’ll analyze the best UFC lightweight fighters. There are plenty to choose from, so let’s get started.

Khabib Nurmagomedov

The Eagle is the current UFC lightweight champion. As things stand, he’s in a class of his own at the top of the rankings. Khabib has annihilated every opponent that Dana White has put in front of him, including Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Edson Barboza, and Rafael dos Anjos. What’s more, Khabib has won all of these fights convincingly.

The Russian’s current record is 28-0. For that reason, he’s one of the few undefeated fighters in the world right now. Nurmagomedov has won ten fights by decision, ten by submission, and eight by knockout. His opponents never know what to expect.

Tony Ferguson

The American mixed martial artist is one of the most experienced fighters on the UFC roster. Ferguson has claimed the scalps of several high-profile opponents since he made his debut in 2008, including Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, and Kevin Lee. The Jiu-Jitsu black belt has won 25 of his 28 fights, which is highly impressive.

Many UFC fans agree that Tony Ferguson is one of the best lightweight competitors in the history of the sport. The 35-year-old veteran picked up the 2018 Fight of the Year for his bout with Anthony Pettis at the World MMA Awards.

Conor McGregor

Whether you like him or loathe him, there’s no denying that Conor McGregor is an incredibly talented fighter. The Irish man is renowned for his nonchalant attitude and deadly left hand. What’s more, the former UFC lightweight champion has beat a host of top opponents, including Eddie Alvarez, Nate Diaz, and Jose Aldo.

The Dublin-born fighter hasn’t stepped back into the Octagon since he lost to Khabib in 2018. However, rumors are circulating that another fight is extremely close. When Mcgregor fights, the fans are entertained. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
