Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Manager views on Conor McGregor Over MMA Retirement

Irish MMA fighter and boxer, Conor McGregor announced retirement from the sport via social media on June 6th, 2020. McGregor took to Twitter to post his retirement to his fans. He wrote-

‘Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours.’

Along with the tweet, was a lovely photograph of Conor with his mother, in which they were all smiles. The picture was taken after Conor’s World Title victory in Las Vegas.

Conor’s unexpected retirement shocked his fans and adversaries alike. While fans were hoping this announcement to be similar to the last one and were praying for Conor to drop the idea of retirement, there was certainly no love lost between McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz. Ali, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager was on all out attack with his comments on Conor’s retirement.

In 2019 Conor McGregor faced Khabib Nurmagomedev at UFC 229 and the latter emerged victorious after the four-round bout. Post match the two teams engaged in a brawl of their own. This resulted in a $50,000 fine and six months ban for McGregor and a $500,000 fine along with a nine months ban for Khabib.

Ali mocked Conor on Twitter saying that though Conor had the opportunity to face Tony Ferguson he chose to hide from him. He lashed out further at Conor saying that it was Justin Gaethje who stepped up to vanquish Ferguson. Justin Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 and became the interim Champion in the absence of Khabib Nurmagomedev.

Nurmagomedov was originally set to face Ferguson at UFC 249.  But after Russia’s restriction on air travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, that fight was cancelled. McGregor was asked to replace Khabib but Conor declined as he ‘isn’t a replacement fighter.’

Ali tweeted-

‘You should have stepped in and fought Tony Ferguson. You’ve been hiding from him, for years. @JustinGaethje stepped in and got the job done. Now your b***h a** needs to sit down and watch the two best fighters in the world fight.@TeamKhabib’

If we are to believe the reports, Khabib Nurmagomedov is expected to return by the end of July or September. On his return, the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov will put his lightweight title on the line against interim champion Justin Gaethje in a PPV headliner. This is however just a speculation and nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
