Dustin Poirier shocked the MMA world when he TKO’d Conor McGregor in the second-round of their highly anticipated rematch back at UFC 178 in September 27, 2014, where McGregor won by first round TKO.
This win makes it an even 1-1 and “The Notorious” has already been campaigning for a rematch so they can settle the score.
When will this rubber match take place? Nobody knows yet, but one thing is for certain, both of these fighters would go into the third stanza with knowledge on each other that could prove to be valuable and would make for a entertaining fight because it would ultimately prove who can implement their gameplan and take the third and final bout.
It should not be surprising that Conor McGregor opened as the favorite if we get to see a Trilogy between him and Poirier even though the last one won the UFC 257 main event.
Will Dustin be able to keep McGregor at bay with those nasty calf and leg kicks, or will Conor be able to push the pressure like he always does and go for that KO?
The other question circulating the MMA world is, why did Conor switch camps and train in a different environment? Will he resort back to the old days where he trained in one spot and with one team to avenge this loss?
We all know Poirier is as game as it comes, and is constantly bettering himself in the gym at all times.
I guess time will tell! In the meantime, stay tuned here on MMACanada.net for more info and rumors on a third fight between these two warriors!
