Brock Lesnar Captures UFC Title, Florian Steamrolls Past Stevenson at UFC 91

UFC 91 - Main Card

Brock Lesnar defeats Randy Couture by TKO in ROund 2 and becoming the UFC heavyweight champion.  Lesnar looked like a truck next to Couture.  Great first round by Lesnar, controlling the pace of the fight and dropping Couture in the middle round.  Late in the second round, Brock landed a right hand on the temple which caused Couture to collapse to the canvas as Lesnar swarms in with hammer punches.  Referee Mario Yamasaki halts the contest and Brock Lesnar is officially the UFC heavyweight champion

Kenny Florian defeats Joe Stevenson at 4:03 of the first round by submission.  Both fighters came out agressive.  Stevenson trying to control the pace of this fight but Florian is able to trip Stevenson to the canvas, locks on a body triangle and sinks in the rear naked choke that made Stevenson tap out.

Dustin Hazelett defeats Tamdan McCrory in the first round by submission.  Great use of the rubber guard by Hazelett as he wins his 2nd straight in the UFC with a highlight reel submission causing Tamdan McCrory to tap at 3:59 seconds.  Great standup my McCrory but unfortunately comes up short.

Gabriel Gonzaga defeats Josh Hendricks by KO in the first round.  Gabriel Gonzaga was as always the aggressor in this fight.  Hendricks found himself on the receiving end of a straight right that dropped him causing referee Steve mazzagatti to step in and halt the action at 1:01 mark of the first round.

Demian Maia defeats Nate Quarry by submission in the first round at 2:13 seconds.  Impressive performance by Maia who immediately went for the takedown and after scrambling, was able to get top control and eventually sink in a tight rear naked choke causing Quarry to tap.



Prelim Fights

Matt Brown Defeats Ryan Thomas in the 2nd round by Submission at 57 seconds of the 2nd round.

Canadian Mark Bocek defeats Alvin Robinson by Submission in the 3rd round by rear naked choke.  Bocek showed great octagon agression and control over Robinson and mounted Robinson a few times in the fight.  Great fight for the Canadian.

Jeremy Stphens defeats Rafael Dos Anjos by KO in the 3rd round.  Impressive uppercut by Stephens that lands directly on Dos Anjos chin and falls immediately to the canvas. Definately a highlight reel.

Aaron Riley defeats Jorge Gurgel by decision after 3 rounds of fighting.  Gurgel accidently gets kicked in the groin in the early momments of the first round.  Great back and forth action by both fighters
