*Recap* Jason Day Withdraws From UFC 88, MacDonald Replaces

MMAWeekly reports that Jason Day has officially withdrawd from his fight against Jason Lambert at UFC 88 due to an injury sustained while training.  According to the report, Day suffered an elbow and biceps injury which will require him to undergo an MRI. Replacing Day will be fellow Canadian Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald.

London Ontario's Own Chris Horodeck Possible Affliction Debut

MMACanada.net learned yesterday that one of the youngest popular MMA stars, Canada's own Chris Horodecki will be making his Affliction Fight debut in October against Dan Lauzon. Lauzon who's fought in the UFC has an MMA record of 10-2 and is a dangerous striker.  Horodecki, hailing from London Ontario looks to make an impressive debut since being released from the IFL.

UFC 87, GSP Decisions Fitch, Lesnar and Florian Are Victorious

One of the biggest cards of the year, UFC 87 lived upto its hype with a stacked card that included a 5 round title war between the victor Georges St.Pierre and Jon Fitch.  After the fight, BJ Penn walks into the cage and asks for a title shot against GSP who decisioned him in their last fight.  Brock Lesnar moves to 2-1 in his MMA career as he dominated the tough and talented MMA veteran Heath Herring.  Kenny Florian fought a techinical battle which gave him the win against Roger Huerta. Florian hands Huerta his first loss in the octagon!

Horodecki Signs With Affliction

It is official that the Affliction brand announced on Wednesday that they signed former IFL fighter Chris Horodecki.  The 20 year old Canadian will make his debut at Affliction "Day of Reckoning" on October 11 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Horodecki's opponent has yet to be named.

UFC Looks To Return To Montreal This Year

TORONTO -- The UFC is looking to return to Canada later this year. "I literally just left a meeting where we were talking about that," UFC president Dana White told The Canadian Press on Tuesday. "We're looking to come back to Montreal." White said the mixed martial arts organization hopes to return in November or December.

On July 26th, 2008 local fighter Michael "sweety pie" Walton will be making his mixed martial arts pro debut on the Freedom Fight; Title Quest card in Gatineau, Quebec.  Walton will be fighting Stephane Bernadel at a weight of 145lbs.  "Sweety Pie" is coached by accomplished boxing coach Billy Martin and also works on his ground game at Xtreme Couture in Toronto.  At 6'0 feet tall Walton is big for 145lbs and will look to use this to his advantage in his debut also utilizing solid striking skills and good ground game to capitalize no matter where the fight should end up.  Michael is looking to make a good impression in this first fight and open up some eyes this weekend.

Rampage Jackson Arrested In California

MMACanada.net recieved word hours ago that former UFC Lightheavyweight champion Rampage Jackson has been arrested.  The former champ was arrested on Felony Evading, Reckless Driving and Hit-and-Run in Costa Mesa.  There has been several attempts from media on contacting Rampage's manager Juanito Ibarra but all were unsuccessful

Patrick "The Predator" Cote continues his impressive win streak making it to 5 in a row last night at UFC 86 by defeating one of the top middleweights in the world RIccardo Almeida.  It was a very tough fight for both men who had alot to loose in this fight.  Almeida looked impressive in the early round but it was Patrick Cote who kept the pressure and was able to walk away with the split decision last night in Las Vegas
